We all know what's about to happen when reports start cropping up that certain Apple models are getting harder and harder to find. REFRESH. This time it's the venerable MacBook Pro.
According to MacRumors, several sources have passed along to them the tidbit that MacBook Pro supplies are dwindling at third party sellers of Apple products. Most especially hit are the 15" and 17" sizes with the latter least available. The article says that one major retail chain (Best Buy?) has "reportedly notified its branches that it has been unable to fulfill replenishment orders."
They go on to note that Amazon is giving 1-2 months for "the base Core i5 model," though Apple still can get it shipped within 24 hours. This seems a reasonable way to expect things to play out.
As Apple sticks to a pretty predictable model refresh schedule, this fits in with the timeframe for a MacBook Pro upgrade. Speculation is betting on the latest Sandy Bridge processor Intel touted at CES being inside this new machine. Boy Genius Reports, meanwhile, pines for the possibility that the MacBook Air becomes the standard machine and the Pro slims down considerably to match.
Any predictions, Mac|Life readers?
