Jumping up from 9% last year, the NPD Home Penetration study found that Macs are showing up in more homes. Good news for Apple and even better news for Mac owners. We'll have fewer calls from family members with Windows' problems.
We're not out of the family tech support woods yet. Of the 12% of homes with Macs, 85% have at least one Windows PC lurking in the home somewhere. The study attributes this to Mac owners usually earning above-average incomes. We like to think that those Windows machines are the property of switchers. Sitting in the corner, ignored, and eventually used as a Linux box for the geeky goodness.
