If you're someone absolutely obsessed with getting the best performance from your Mac, or understanding its abilities inside and out, MacTech Magazine is a good place to start. Beyond its various community events, MacTech really digs into Apple's hardware. Today, the 'zine's site benchmarks two of the most popular virtualization options for Mac OS X.
Let's make something clear: MacTech's benchmarking tests are insanely thorough. If you're committed to reading the entire run-through of comparisons with VMware Fusion 5 and Parallels Desktop 8, it's going to take a while.
But honestly, it's worth checking out. We recently put the new 27-inch iMac to the test with some major Mac games, but the tests at MacTech are dedicated to looking at virtualization, opening up a whole new world of possibilities in using non-Mac software. As a gamer, that's wholly important.
"The goal was to see how VMware Fusion and Parallels Desktop performed, under Windows 7 and Windows 8," reads the MacTech post. "Furthermore, we wanted to see some of the differences with different Mac models with different graphics and processor types."
There's a couple of interesting results, especially when it comes to games like Torchlight II. Be sure to get yourself comfortable and head into this long read.
