Kairosoft is a bit of a favorite around here at Mac|Life. Their first amazing cult-hit iOS game, Game Dev Story [iTunes Link] has earned its right as a permanent fixture on several of our iPhones. Their second game, Hot Springs Story, was a drastic step outside the box, but still offered a very good time. Now we're receiving word that Kairosoft is hard at work on an all-new creation. The official title hasn't been announced, but the translation (it was first revealed on a Japanese app website) has it being called "School of Pocket."
Since this is just now being revealed the details are few and far between, but we do have some screenshots and a few ideas of where the gameplay will go. Anybody who has played a Kairosoft management simulator will know instantly how the game will play, however. It's said that players will be working to strike a balance between creating great students and creating a profitable school.
We're not intimately knowledgeable about the politics of grammar schools and high schools, but this note about profitability makes it sound like more of a college that the player will be managing. Or maybe that's a choice to be made in-game.
Unfortunately we don't know when the game is scheduled to release, or if it will release in North America at all. After all, we're still waiting for their Japan-only game The Game Dealer to make its debut state-side. We're also still waiting for Game Dev Story 2, so clearly Kairosoft has a lot of balls up in the air.
Update: Details are still sparse, but we now have the official word from Kairosoft that the game has been released in Japan. There's no news yet on whether it will be coming to North America.
