Marvel is in a particularly giving mood the last week, following up its all-you-can-read, subscription-based Unlimited app for iOS with more than 700 first issues available free through Tuesday night.
Marvel is celebrating SXSW 2013 by giving away more than 700 first issues of its digital comic books absolutely free. But you'll want to tap that "Free" button quickly, because the promotion expires at 11pm EST on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
"In an unprecedented new reader initiative, Marvel Comics unleashes Marvel #1, an offering of over 700 first issues from the length and breadth of the company’s history at no charge," the company announced Sunday. "This special promotion begins Sunday March 10 and runs until 11PM Eastern Time on Tuesday, March 12 as free downloads via the Marvel Comics app and Marvel Comics Digital Comics Shop."
It's an ingenious (if downright diabolical) move on Marvel's part -- the ultimate "first one's free" for comic book fans, even those already indulging on the company's subscription-based Unlimited app, which finally landed on iOS last week.
