Microsoft Revives "PC Versus Mac"

We all remember the Mac vs. PC ads. Well, now apparently Microsoft is taking an attempt to revive that a bit, by adding a new "PC vs. Mac" section to the Windows 7 area of their website. The new section lets users know that PCs have Blu-ray, an abundance of software options and more hardware options. "Deciding between a PC and a Mac?" it poses. "Here's what you need to know."
The new section maintains six different sections about everything great about Windows units. One section is even called, "Having Fun," warning users that Macs could possibly "spoil" their fun.
"You can't get a Mac that ships with a Blu-ray player, TV tuner, Memory Stick reader, or built-in 3G wireless," the site reads. "You can with PCs running Windows 7."
Microsoft doesn't let up either, with remarks such as "Macs can take time to learn," "Macs don't work as well at work or school," and "Macs don't let you choose."
"PCs give you a lot more choice and capabilities for your money," and "you can get the PC you want, in the size and color you want, with the features you want. You just don't have as many options with a Mac."
Another feature is the Windows PC Scout tool, which allows users to find their "perfect PC." You can also check out the "buzz" from Twitter users mentioning their PCs with Windows 7.
What do you think about this new spin on the "PC vs. Mac," readers? Feel free to leave comments below!

If windows is trying to say they're better, why are they copying so many of the Macs' features? And do they mention the like 1000x more viruses for Windows?

I was surprised that the twitter buzz didn't say "Crud my PC just crashed again" I am forced to use a PC at work, and it has already frozen twice with only three apps running. I was a Windows user from 1995 until 2001 when someone gave me a six year old Performa with OS 8. It ran better and crashed less than my one year old PC with Windows 98.
But what I found most humorous was the top right corner of the page where it says "Upgrade your Internet experience" with a link to Internet Explorer. Even PC users despise Explorer.

The Mac isn't friendly?????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I export Pages documents to Word all the time! I open PowerPoint presentations on my Mac like weekly, AND WE CAN RUN WINDOWS. If that's not "friendly" then tell me what is!

Where do you think Microsoft gets all of their ideas from? APPLE! The new 'taskbar' is just the Mac OS X dock!

The fact that all Macs run Windows natively which renders this whole tired, sad argument 100% moot. Does anybody care if their computer plays physical media anymore? They really are stuck in 1995.

...that PCs come built in with super-duper Bloatware! (why didn't they mention that!?)
And Apples not as intuitive? THAT was the part I couldn't get past.

"Bloatware" depends on what you want. How many people use all of the software that came with their Mac?
But it doesn't matter if you never use Garageband (or whatever Windows program you don't use). Disk space is cheap.

I am a student at Full Sail University and I have to disagree with that statement. I couldn't imagine doing my graphics on a pc.

Intuitive, familiar, and easy to use, PCs do what you want: they just work.
I'm still trying to get past that part.... was anyone able to get past it?

They're even copying Apple's marketing lines now.
And by saying that PCs do what you want: they just work, they are implying that macs don't just work, because you only boast about the fact that your product does what it is supposed to if the competitors product sucks.

You need to realize, someone who has used a PC or a Mac for years will always think that their side is more intuitive.

this is wrong at least as far as I`m concerned. I was a windows man for many years and I was actually kind of annoyed when my boss said that I had to switch to mac cause one of us in the department had to learn this GUI. After 2 weeks of usage I was converted and I`ll never go back to WIN ever again. I used to like to make things work on my computer now i like to use my computer... there`s a difference!!

I'm a Mac convert too. But I still have troubles wanting immediate focus. When I click on a different application I still want to start typing immediately. I'd love the ability to adjust that.
But for the most part, Windows has copied features so that "intuitive" isn't a big deal anymore.
Unless we need to work from the command line. BASH & Unix are much more powerful than what Windows offers.
