Microsoft Store Looks Eerily Similar to Another Store
If you've ever been to an Apple store, you'll recognize the new Microsoft store.
Wood floors - check
White walls - check
Employees with T-Shirt and black pants - check
Tables in the center with notebooks - check
Employees with lanyards - check
Ad with tons of app icons on a white background - check
They even open the stores the same way. With clapping employees giving high fives.
We half expect to see iPhones being sold.
This is your grand plan Microsoft? To copy Apple in every way possible?
Oh wait...

This was going to come one way or another. Windows always has and always will copy Apple in anyway they can. See the new Apple Magic Mouse? I bet that windows will release a new mouse just like it but call it like the... future mouse or something. Windows will never have its own ideas. If you look at windows 7 that is probably more Apple like then Windows.

When is imitation NOT the most sincere form of flattery? When it's INFRINGEMENT. Microsoft has co-opted the entire "look and feel" of an Apple store and I can't help but wonder if Apple's legal team isn't taking a hard look at the MS shenanigans from a trade dress/unfair competition standpoint. If the orange roof of a Howard Johnson's restaurant is protectable (and it is, or was) and the court's have enforced owners' rights in the look and feel of fast food restaurants, a retail store should be no different. You would think that MS would realize how bad a light this puts the company in and how commercially pathetic it is to be such a blatant copyist but I guess not. The "brains" (and I use that term loosely) behind the design of the MS store should be ashamed of themselves. Do something original for a damn change already...

i like the "MS will create deeper customer connections" nonsense. right after the story about the woman who spent hours with two techs getting her new Win 7 laptop setup. yeah ... sounds like a huge success. god what a mess. the upside is that the new Apple ads are hysterical and spot on

where does microsoft get all the koolaid for their cultists to guzzle? they must have their own dedicated koolaid production facility in redmond.
i predict that windows 7 will /fail and that this retail store will close in 1 to 2 years
why? because the reviews i've seen about the upgrade from xp to 7 are horror stories about failed installs, lost files, non-functional apps.

1) So what laptop are being featured? HP, COMPACT, DELL, ACER, SONY, TOSHIBA? What APPS are on the walls? XP...NO. VISTA....lol WIN.7....WHY? So if I have a Dell laptop and I need it fixed, do I come to the store first or do I call Dell first to tell them I want to take it to the store and then have to wait on confirmation number from Dell and finally take it to the store to get it fix and the techs there tell me......... CALL DELL?
"Loup407 on Thu, 2009-10-22 14:33 I bet their "guru bar" will be one very busy place!" LOL
2) Microsoft has no originality... I SO AGREE iSean

"First the Widgets in Vista, then the Dock rip-off in 7, and now this
DO THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO SHAME!"3) Apples supplies energy, brings forth life, and are organically engineered for the world and it's inhabitants. A window is merely an entrance or exit of a box. Grow outside.... outside the box as an apple should. As all things great should. Nothing in this world should be stuck in a box looking out a window at what they could have done or what they should have been. Be original. Be your self......let's go get some chicken and get busy.(Fresh Prince Moment)LOL
Thanks for giving the opportunity to speak my mind MacLife.

Microsoft hasn't innovated in ages. Case in point, when was the last time programs like PowerPoint were improved?
It says a lot when MS's ad agency for this effort are all on Macs, other than the poor bastards who have to travel to Redmond. MS had a great opportunity to really make a difference. I bet their "guru bar" will be one very busy place!

Wow, the store look really fruity, trying their best to make it look like the Apple Store, in my opinion, FAIL. Look at all the PC laptop and desktop, look very like Walmart computer area. But hey there's a good side for a MS Store, now we can bring our crappy PC in for them to fix and virus removal.

Wow, I heard about this but didn’t expect they would copy the Apple Store exactly! I wonder how many people will walk in and immediately leave when they realizing that this is NOT the Apple Store.
Here is a bland article I found about the opening. Just read some of the comments from the first few customers!
