Is it a case of creativity? Perhaps. Or is it more that the crew at Microsoft have way too much time on their hands? Maybe. Either way, Redmond and Co. decided to live up the Windows Phone 7 reaching RTM status by actually throwing a funeral complete with procession for the iPhone and the Blackberry.
The very decked out parade came with hearses and black capes, and had been organized last week to recognize the "passing" of the BlackBerry and iPhone into the land of unwanted gadgets.
The group also apparently decided to get their dance moves on to Thriller. Check it out below.
So what do you think readers? Is this a case of awesome creativity, or merely poor taste? Feel free to leave some comments below!
iPhone or Mac Owners!!!!! Only Owners!!! i never ever seen or hear a mac or iPhone Owner talking o saying something bad about their devices ,i just hear people that not even own a iPod talking all the trash an saying the worst things about our devices,Why is that ??? I dont get it ,why,if you even had one!
Android has surpassed Apple's smartphone OS in market share. Why? because its Linux!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smartphone
Google uses Linux and they OWN the internet. While Bill and Steve were developing half-baked operating systems and charging $100+, Google was innovating search technology and not charging people a dime.
by the way, I would rather use Mac over Windows. But screw paying for 2 computers when I can build my own and run the latest Linux kernel for a fraction of the cost!
just like Microsoft to be a poor loser. This reminds me of that horrible video they made for Vista to convince their sales people that they were actually going to be able to get companies to license that dog of an OS
Yep, iPod is dead too, just like the iPhone. Just like the Apple store is a failure. If Apple keeps this up, they're going to fail their way to number one. Microsoft doesn't create, they recreate. Their products have always been over priced, poorly thought out and prone to crashing. Apple moves the consumer computer market forward with the Mac OS, Microsoft copies it (poorly) with Windows. Apple creates digital music for the masses with iTunes and the iPod, Microsoft follows with Zune. Microsoft can't even come up with an original commercial. Apple has the innovative "Mac vs PC" spots, Microsoft comes back with "I'm a PC". What Microsoft has done here is exactly the same as it has always done ... not create, recreate.
MS should be really think before they do anything these days. It is really funny that they pull a stunt like this while google and apple are way ahead of the mobile game now. I think this among other things is the death of MS as they are just followers now not leaders or innovators. It was in poor taste and not a good marketing campaign at all. If windows 7 phones where the only smartphones left because they kill they others, I will not own a smartphone anymore. MS products are the lowest quality products out there and the wonderful KIN was so wonderful it killed itself
Embarrassing. Truly embarrassing. On one hand, I kinda feel sorry for Microsoft. Seeing them flop around like a fish out of water when they once were king of the sea is embarrassing. They are making quite the spectacle of themselves trying to compete with Apple. And SHAME ON THEM for doing so because they had HOW many years to get it right? They need a new PR Department. A company who has had the stronghold that it has been fortunate enough to have in the past decade & 1/2 should not be reduced to mud-slinging & giving 'low blows'. All the money Microsoft made should have been managed a lot better in the favor of the consumer. Consumers won't ditch your product if you make changes to suit their needs in a simple & sensible way.
I hope apple gets their act together cuz if they keep making products like iphone 4, the new nano, and the new appleTV I am not gonna buy new apple products for a long time.
MS once had the world by the short hairs. Now it's relegated to third rate stunts that are indicative of the creativity (or lack thereof) left in Redmond. Considering their past record with cell phones, they should have just pout a pillow over their own face.
Oh God. How incredibly stupid! So this is what it has come to for Microsoft.
Does Bill Gates know how idiotic this all looks?
Not sure what is worse...Ballmer signing off on this or Ballmer knowing nothing about this at all.
Microsoft is now on a slow and steady course to irrelevancy.
Bing hasn't caught on...no one really cares about Windows Phone 7...Kin died a lonely death...
I think they're just being jerks. Microsoft really doesn't know how to generate good publicity. From the "tonight's gonna be a good night" dance at the apple store ripoff to the mind numbingly unfunny ads involving jerry seinfeld, it's been one PR failure after another.
Microsoft also seemingly hasn't given up on perpetuating the unconvincing myth of the iphone not selling or not going to be selling well, despite the fact that iPhones are selling like hotcakes.
How about, a bunch of douche bags that decided to perform this "dance" in public but obviously never practiced and therefore were out of sync and sloppy!! Wait, I get it now, they were just promoting the fact that the new Windows Phone 7 will work like shit, just like Windows does!, and I guess the "Douche Bags" are actually representing the QA Dept in Redmond!! Well on that note, I think the video was ingenious!!
