MobileMe Subscribers Experience E-mail Problems (Again)

MobileMe_Box_August_SMTP Problems

The Apple Discussion Boards have been ablaze recently with reports of MobileMe e-mail not working correctly, making us lose count of the number of MobileMe outages. Many users are complaining that when they attempt to send e-mails, the connection to Apple's servers time out and they are prompted to select a new SMTP server (the type of server/connection used to send out e-mails).

MacNN says that some users are reporting that after changing their outgoing server to "smtp.mac.com" they regain the ability to send e-mails. Apple had problems with MobileMe since its launch, and while many of the problems have subsided over time, e-mail has almost always been a little wonky.

If you're experiencing this problem the best thing you can do is contact Apple. You can also post a response to the Apple Discussion Board.

avatarYes, email wonky.

I had the same experience as mentioned above, but after 3 days and several calls to the Support Team, I changed my settings and 'seems' to work fine. I don't use any fancy features, just simple POP. They suggested I change to IMAP to solve my problems, but I refused.
