Although Apple’s transition from .mac to the MobileMe service got off to a rocky start, it has continued to steadily improve over time. Now, Apple has flipped the switch on something to make the web-based Calendar even more useful.
9to5Mac is reporting that Apple has updated the online MobileMe Calendar at me.com to now include alerts. The feature works pretty much the same way that it does on an iOS device or on the Mac via iCal, except now an alert pops up within your web browser (as seen above in Safari).
“Just like on an iOS device or the Mac’s calendar application, me.com will now let you set alerts for calendar events,” 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman notes. “Any alert you setup on me.com will automatically sync to your other MobileMe devices. You can choose to be notified 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 1 day, or 2 days in advance of your event.”

Another nifty baby step forward for MobileMe, which Apple CEO Steve Jobs recently promised would have some “big changes” in store for 2011.
