While the rest of us celebrate the arrival of our newest Mac by importing our ginormous iTunes library, checking out what's new on MacLife.com or playing with the new iPhoto features, the good people at iFixit.com immediately set upon taking the thing apart.
The model that they dissected came with the 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB DDR3 1067 MHz RAM, and a 320 GB hard drive. With the turn of ten screws the back cover was off and the magic interior was revealed.
Of most interest, the "non-removable" battery was rather easily removed, indicating that "it's only a matter of time until you'll be able to buy this battery online".
Another exhale of relief came from the revelation that Apple relocated the Bluetooth board. While it had been part of the display assembly in the previous machine, costing the users big money to get it replaced, it is now in a more accessible location behind the optical drive.
The step-by-step procedure and photos galore (including a great close- up view of the logic board) can be found at iFixit.
