TUAW is reporting that Netsize, a leading mobile commerce and communications enabler,
announced the results of its Mobile Trends Survey 2010 yesterday at the European mobile tech conference M-Days. A whopping 87% of industry professionals surveyed by Netsize said that Apple’s App Store will be the most successful, with Google’s Android Market trailing at 60%. Not surprisingly, everything else gets less than a 50% chance of success -- far less.
Among the rest of the pack, Nokia’s Ovi Store ranks at 30%, RIM’s Blackberry App World at 27%, Microsoft at only 15% and it only gets uglier for Apple’s competition from there.
As TUAW points out, most tellingly, this survey was taken before Wednesday’s announcement of Apple’s iPad, which will also begin to play into the App Store success story when it makes its debut in late March. Given Apple’s wide lead in this horse race, we can only imagine that the competition is having some teeth-gnashing and sleepless nights trying to concoct ways to catch up now.
