No, that's not a typo: Sprint has actually introduced a new plan called "Framily" that allows up to 10 friends and family to share a single account, and it's headed to the company's retail stores this Friday.
Sprint announced Tuesday an alternative to the traditional family plan now offered by all U.S. carriers which delivers unlimited talk, text and 1GB of data to up to 10 people -- regardless of whether they're related to you or not.
Known as "Framily," the plan costs as little as $25 per month for each line and can include "friends, loved ones and people that you or your other Framily members just kinda know… but want to share awesome savings with." Although the plan saves money for everyone, Framily customers can have separate bills for each account without losing the savings.
Sprint claims Framily savings will be best with between seven and 10 lines on an account, with each paying only $25 per month. Framily rates start at $55 for a single line, but the price drops quickly as additional users are added.
The new Framily plan is available to new or existing Sprint customers, but those with a current account will need to be upgrade eligible to sign up or pay an additional $15 per month per line until that eligibility kicks in. Head to a Sprint retail store this Friday, January 10 to sign up.
