New ESPN App Streams Full ESPN - For Certain Cable Customers
While the concept of being able to watch the Entertainment and Sports Network on your mobile device might not necessarily be new, one could only watch an "ESPN-lite" of sorts with "ESPN Mobile TV." However, sports junkies can now watch the gang from Bristol on the iPhone with the new WatchESPN app. But as with most wonderful things, there is a catch. You have to be a Time Warner Cable, Bright House, or Verizon FiOS customer.
According to BusinessInsider, the new app will let you stream full ESPN, live, to your iPhone and iPod touch. You also stream ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPNU, so you never miss a minute.
It's part of the "TV Everywhere"-type strategy that cable providers and networks alike are utilizing to keep viewers hooked all the time. If you're paying for cable TV service, why not add a little more "value" in an app such as this?
The Worldwide Leader in Sports isn't leaving iPad users out in the cold either. A plan is in place to release an iPad-optimized version next month, and other smartphone and tablet users will see another version in the "near future" as well.

Since last fall, Time Warner customers have been able to watch ESPN on a computer. You have to go through a log-in procedure and then watch it in a browser using Silverlight (So there goes your Disney angle halhiker). I watched Monday Night Football on the computer a lot last winter.
With the Time Warner iPad app, you can watch the ESPN News channel.
I'll have to check this one out!
