New iMacs and Mac minis Set to Take Over Your Heart With NVIDIA Chipsets.
Posted 12/22/2008 at 2:49:09pm | by Danny Estrada

A member of InsanelyMac forums discovered some interesting code while rummaging around extensions files that shipped out with the latest MacBooks. The discovered code referenced a "Macmini3,1" and an "iMac9,1." Exciting right? Yeah, we know.

The extension files of interest pertain to Mac's System Management Controller and Advanced Configuration and Power Interface, also known as "ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext"(what?). It pretty much tells you which NVIDIA chipsets will be supporting which Macs platforms. allegedly those supported will include the new iMac and Mac mini.

If you look closely at the extentions files you can read that the new Macs were dated for this year. It's possible that there was a change of plans for a later release, since we haven't seen hide, nor hair, of these new little Macs.
