Apple fans must feel like kids in a candy store with Wi-Fi iPads already having been released, Wi-Fi+3G versions to come out later this month, and new tidbits to come on Thursday about the next iPhone OS update. Now over at MacRumors, a forum poster found out word, via a Google translation, from Taiwanese newspaper Apple Daily that is claiming new MacBooks, MacBook Pros, and MacBook Airs could be on their way sometime this month.
However, like most rough translations, the information is not exactly clear. The report says that new models were originally supposed to come out in March, but due to a shortage of Intel chips, it pushed the launch to April. The report also states that Apple is planning on expanding the sizes of all three MacBooks to a max of 640 GB hard drives with an 8 hour battery performance. The rest of the report spoke of suppliers, such as Quanta and Hon Hai (Foxconn) being targeted about the assembly of the units, and Innolux and AU Optronics designing the LCD panels.
If this does hold true, it wouldn't exactly be shocking, as updates have been widely speculated about for months. But as the iPad came to fruition, the reports became less and less frequent.
For those playing the home game, MacBook Air was last refreshed in June, along with the new MacBook Pros. The MacBook last received a breath of fresh air in October, and hasn't been thought to be ready for an update.
Rest assured, it's going to be an interesting next few months!
