Activity and fitness trackers like the Nike Fuelband are using the power of mobile to sync your daily habits with an online system. But if you were holding out, waiting to see the FuelBand make its way to Android, you're out of luck. According to Nike, the company isn't interested in moving beyond iOS.
As noted by Droid Life, the official Nike Twitter account has dispelled any notion the company is bringing its popular FuelBand Bluetooth syncing to Android.
"Right now, we're focused on iOS and web. We're not working on an Android app," reads the Twitter post.
Nike had apparently shown some interest in releasing an Android app last year, with a launch goal of summer 2012. Obviously, that time has passed, and now it looks like the project is in the can entirely.
Nike FuelBand tracks activity levels throughout the day, and works in congress with an iOS app to set goals, check history, and socialize with friends. Currently, Android users are forced to plug the band into their computer and access the features of the Nike+ website.
"To deliver the best experience for all Nike+ FuelBand users, we are focusing on the FuelBand experience across iOS and nikeplus.com, where you can sync your activity, set new goals, and connect with friends," said Nike in a later statement. "At this time, we are not working on an Android version of the mobile app."
