Nike + iPod nano To Incorporate Heart Monitor?
Posted 09/10/2009 at 4:22:16pm | by Cory Bohon

Apple and Nike introduced the Nike+ system of shoes and small pedometer a few years ago. The small device can connect to your iPod to provide you with important fitness data, but could a new add-on bring even more information to your iPod. AppleInsider points out that in the latest Nike + iPod documentation [PDF link here see page 20] there is references to a "Heart Monitor" that could connect to the new 5th gen iPod nanos.

Apple really gives away the information in a section entitled "Linking a Nike + iPod Compatible Remote or Heart Rate Monitor." Really? They couldn't have been more subtle? Anyways, this heart monitoring device that links with the iPods could help fitness-crazed iPod owners keep track of their fitness goals.

There is no word on if this mystery device would work with the iPhone/iPod touch, but we definitely would like it to since we're all fitness-crazed like that. Although, if it doesn't work with other iPods, this could be our way of working the iPod nano 5th gen into our holiday wishlist!
