If you're still rocking the same iPhone you purchased back in 2007, get ready for the hurt--your days of OS updates are officially over.
If you need to take a few moments for yourself, we understand.
MacNN reports that Steve Jobs has issued an email ordering the next major iPhone firmware update to disallow support for Apple's first generation iPhone released three years ago.
The move to force the 2G iPhone into obsolescence at gunpoint sets a new precedent for Apple, and could herald the life cycle for the smartphone's current and future iterations. Further evidence of Apple's strategy can be seen in Apple's decision to omit multitasking from the iPhone 3G, despite the fact that the handset's architecture could technically run the software update.
