Admit it: You’re an iPhone owner and closet ABBA fan. Now those two great tastes have come together in one place with the release of ABBA Singbox, the first official ABBA app which lets you belt out “Dancing Queen” and share it with the world.
Recombu.com is reporting that ABBA Singbox hit the App Store on Monday, the world premiere of the first official ABBA app for iTunes. Now you can “relive the glitz and glamour” by watching the original ABBA music videos while singing along and competing with others.
“Sing along to ABBA classics like ‘Dancing Queen,’ ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘The Winner Takes It All,’” the app description teases. “Awesome studio effects are added in real time to help create an intense music experience. Challenge yourself or your friends.”
ABBA Singbox compares itself to “the feeling and the excitement from PlayStation’s Singstar or Xbox’s Lips” in the palm of your hand, complete with both amateur and pro modes. ABBA Singbox is also socially aware, meaning that you can share your results on the official ABBA website, ABBA Facebook group and even your own Facebook wall.
Now for the bad news: While the app is a reasonable $2.99, that entry price only gets you one song, “Dancing Queen.” Three others are available for in-app purchase at $1.99 each, with the promise of more to come via “frequent updates.” If you’re a true ABBA lover, this new addiction could get costly quick!
ABBA Singbox is a 16MB download from the App Store, compatible with the iPhone, second-generation or higher iPod touch and iPad (though it’s not a universal app) and requires iOS 4.0 or later.
