If you’re a fan of old-fashioned terrestrial radio, you’ve probably already discovered ooTunes Radio, one of the biggest and best iOS apps that pulls in live AM/FM broadcasts from over 150 countries -- and thanks to a new 4.0 update, looks good on the iPad while doing it.
Oogli, LLC has announced ooTunes Radio 4.0, a major new update to the company’s $4.99 iOS radio streaming app. While the app has always promised “clean, crisp sound from over 30,000 internet audio streams” as well as “FM/AM live broadcast from over 150 countries,” the update that just hit the App Store makes the app even more fun to use, particularly for iPad owners.
At long last, ooTunes Radio is now a universal app, bringing full support for the iPad and a new, simplified user interface at the same time. Users will have the ability to fast forward or rewind in live streams, create favorite groups and even import and export favorites via email on iOS 4 or higher. For iPhone 4 owners, the app finally gets a high-resolution Retina Display icon, too!
ooTunes Radio is also a pretty neat alarm clock, allowing you to fall asleep to your favorite station with a sleep timer or waking up to another stream from anywhere in the world. Frequent travelers will also appreciate the app’s ability to record any incoming audio for later playback, even with no internet access. The developer also offers ooTunes Server for streaming your iTunes library to the iOS app, no matter where you are (with an internet connection, of course).
The 4.0 update to ooTunes Radio is now available from the App Store for $4.99, and as always, updates for existing customers are free; the 7.2MB download is now universal and fully compatible with any iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running iOS 3.0 or later.
