If you can’t make a call or access data on your iPhone this Friday starting at 12 p.m. PST, blame it on the geniuses behind “Operation Chokehold.”
That’s the “code name” for a rogue group of iPhone users fed up with recent comments from the likes of AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega, who have been quoted as trying to “incentivize” mobile data hogs, according to Mashable.
We iPhone users are a finicky bunch. We demand cheap data plans, fast 3G data access and clear, drop-free connections. And if we don’t get them, we’ll bring down the whole network. Wait… what?
Operation Chokehold is a plan to do just that. It’s designed to encourage fed-up iPhone owners to get on their devices and gobble up tons of 3G data for a full hour starting at 12 p.m. PST this Friday, December 18th. Their nefarious goal is to bring down the whole network and “send the message to AT&T that we are sick of their substandard network and sick of their abusive comments.”
The brains behind Operation Chokehold have even enlisted Fake Steve Jobs (aka Dan Lyons): “The engineers have asked me to service as a kind of communications director for their efforts -- soliciting ideas on what apps to use and how to refine the attack on the network.”
Fake Steve Jobs is a popular blog with a lot of avid readers, but even the folks at Mashable question if his readers will take such a revolt seriously, or if there are even enough angry AT&T users to make a dent in the service. We’ll be watching the results (if any) of this questionable “digital flash mob.”

If the AT&T network sucks bad enough to be taken down by a few angry iPhone users then its AT&T's fault if a 911 call is block, because it is their responsibility to insure that the network will work and work correctly even under high load. I mean would you pay for a home internet service if every time a few people started playing COD online your internet didn't work, no you wouldn't.

Forced to go with iPhone, a speed research was done of all networks, and if you don't already know, AT&T is in last place.
Verizon as you've seen in commercials is actually in first place.

his connection is just fine, and AT&T on mine might if the wind direction
and cliff face the right direction. It's a miracle if it connects.911? Your on trail with 4 wheeler victim, good luck with AT&T.
Hopefully it's not the only game standing over the victim.It's not really possible to knock down the system any more than rush hour traffic does when you get the can't connect right now message because of all the women on the phone crashing.
So let them carry on with the load test, I doubt we see an issue,
or any improvement of service as a result taken down.
