The holidays are fast approaching, and everywhere you look, there's a constant reminder — the Christmas decorations are coming out and our televisions are full of seasonal-flavored commercials. And it's not even Thanksgiving yet! It looks like Apple Retail will be having a great holiday with word that the company's stores are now the king of profit when it comes to square footage. Didn't hear about that? Read on to find out more.
Apple Doubles Tiffany's in Retail Square Footage
AppleInsider reported Tuesday that Apple's retail square footage now makes it the most valuable retailer, doubling the sales of Tiffany & Co., which earns $3,017 per square foot. Apple's profit is a tidy $6,050 per square foot, which is nothing to sneeze at considering many of its retail stores are fairly compact to begin with. It's a big drop to the number three position, with Lulu Lemon Athletic pulling in $1,936 per square foot. Apple has also finally cracked the top 10 retailers with highest overall sales per store, coming in at position number nine, just behind wholesale giants Costco and Sam's Club.
Skype Adds iPhone 5 Support
On the heels of pushing out its new Windows Phone 8 Preview on Monday, Skype has updated the iPhone version to support the taller display on the iPhone 5 and fifth-gen iPod touch. "Now you can enjoy Skype calling on the iPhone 5 in full screen glory!" the Skype Blog notes, pointing you in the direction of the App Store to actually download Skype for iPhone 4.1.2.
YouTube Update Brings AirPlay-Like Streaming to Android
"What if you could send YouTube videos from your phone to your TV with a click of a button?" The Official YouTube Blog asked on Tuesday. Sounds more than a little like Apple's AirPlay, but the video sharing giant is actually referring to its latest app update for Android and Google TV, which now features similar functionality on its own platform. YouTube claims to have been working on the idea since 2010, but as usual, Apple beat them to the punch by more than a year. For shame...
Iddiction Overhauls Office Master: Backstab Game, Free for Limited Time
A good game of "whac-a-mole" can sure vanquish any frustration you might be feeling at the moment, but when the game features a corporate setting and deals with office politics, that could be even more fun! Iddiction has announced a major overhaul to its Office Master: Backstab game, which finds players whacking their way to the top of the corporate ladder by backstabbing unsuspecting colleagues. With all-new, redesigned levels and new power-ups, how could the game get any better? Well, how about if it were free — which it is right now, but only for a limited time, so grab it while the grabbin' (and backstabbin') is good.
Kanex Announces DoubleUp USB Charger for iPad, iPhone
Many of us have multiple iOS devices these days — say, an iPhone and an iPad, for instance. Rather than take up both plugs on a wall outlet to charge them, why not have an accessory that can do both in one? That's the premise behind the Kanex DoubleUp, a $49 dual USB charger offered in black or white to fit any decor, complete with LED status indicators that let you know when you device batteries are topped up — orange for charging and green means you're ready to unplug. The DoubleUp is available now from the Kanex website and fine retailers everywhere.
