And just like that, HTC has discontinued its trio of Android-based tablets on American shores, with no plans to return unless they can find something that will "make a splash." The real miracle is that there hasn't been more blood in the tablet waters -- not counting HP, who infamously launched the webOS-based TouchPad last July, then yanked it six weeks later before it ever really had a chance. Who will be the next to fall?

Apple's New iPod Commercial Lands Online
As noted by MacRumors, a television commercial for Apple's new iPod lineup has landed online, after debuting last month at the iPhone 5 announcement. Entitled "Bounce," the ad focuses on the company's new iPod touch with a four-inch display whose size matches the iPhone 5, as well as an all-new 2.5-inch multitouch iPod nano. Last but not least, the refreshed iPod shuffle is also included with its rainbow of color choices. Check it out embedded below!
HTC Bails on U.S. Tablet Market
Fierce Wireless reported that Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has waved the white flag of surrender and discontinued sales of its tablet products in the United States. Claiming the company's Flyer, Evo View 4G and Jetstream "definitely met expectations," global online communications manager Jeff Gordon confirmed the change -- with one caveat. "We're watching that market [tablets] very, very closely," Gordon remarked, while noting HTC could leap back into the tablet market whenever it builds a product that could "make a splash." How long before other Android-powered tablet makers do the same?
Twitter Gives TweetDeck a Fresh Coat of Paint
Twitter announced a new look for TweetDeck on its blog Wednesday which carries across its web, Chrome, Mac and Windows clients. (Curiously, not a chirp was said about the company's iOS app, which was last updated just shy of a year ago.) Supported platforms can now choose themes (including a new lighter theme) or change fonts to personalize their TweetDeck experience. Users can switch between themes by clicking the theme indicator on the top toolbar, and font sizes now range from Small (13pt), Medium (14pt) or Large (15pt). The free OS X update is ready and waiting for you in the Mac App Store -- assuming you haven't found a better client for Twitter by now, that is.
