It was only last week -- Friday to be exact -- when the U.S. International Trade Commission ruled against Finnish cell phone giant Nokia in its epic patent battle with Apple. Now, like a bad penny, the Finns are back for another round.
Reuters is reporting that Nokia has filed another complaint with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) in its battle with Apple, claiming that Cupertino has infringed on the Finnish company’s patents “in virtually all of its products.”
You may recall that only last Friday, Nokia lost its first round with Apple, as an ITC judge “ruled that the U.S. company did not violate any of five Nokia patents.” Apparently, the Finns don’t know when to quit, and now they’re back with a new case against Apple.
“On Tuesday, Nokia filed a new case relating to seven patents in areas of multi-tasking operating systems, data synchronization, positioning, call quality and the use of Bluetooth accessories,” Reuters reports.
"Our latest ITC filing means we now have 46 Nokia patents in suit against Apple, many filed more than 10 years before Apple made its first iPhone," claims Nokia vice president of intellectual property, Paul Mein, in a statement.
In addition to the patent battle being heard in the United States, Nokia is also pursuing Apple in the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands -- the question now is, will they be successful with any of them? Stay tuned.
