The People Have Spoken--They Want a Verizon iPhone!

As we all know, the rumors that the iPhone will be available on Verizon are getting stronger. Regardless of how we might feel about the carrier, we'd love to see a day when our iPhone network isn't bogged down with everyone and their dog using it (those of you in big cities know how that goes). We can only imagine a few more carrier options would help with that, and it looks like that's what people want. More specifically, they want a Verizon option.
Market research from Morpace shows that 29% of the consumers they surveyed would by an iPhone if it was available on Verizon. As expected, existing Verizon customers were particularly enthusiastic.
But, it's not just Verizon customers that want their carrier of choice. Nearly half of all AT&T iPhone owners would consider jumping the gun to Verizon, and a third of them are actively holding off on upgrading their phones while they wait for new carriers. This survey is reinforced by a separate survey conducted by ChangeWave; their data shows that 31% of iPhone 4 owners are very, or somewhat likely to switch to Verizon if they get the iPhone. These are the people that are already locked into brand new two-year contracts with AT&T, so that says a lot.
We know that the people want Verizon. The only question that remains is whether the people (and Verizon, who has a ton to gain from this) will get what they want. Hopefully we'll find out come January.

what makes anyone think that the network will not see the same drain that the T network has seen. it is just illogical to think so. when you have more data being used by more people on the network it will work worse. T will get a little better and VZ will get worse.
