Phosphor Games has unveiled their highly intriguing new horror game for iOS. It's called The Dark Meadow, and it looks pretty amazing thus far. Today they're showing off some awesome new screens of the game in action.
The game itself is being described as a first-person horror game with combat that takes some influence from Angry Birds of all things. In an interview with Pocket Gamer, the developers said the main weapon in the game is a cross bow. But, they said, most iOS first person shooting doesn't feel very good since you have to swipe at the screen like mad trying to aim.
To avert this, they developed a slower combat system where you aim the bow then pull back the draw string by pulling your finger across the touch screen. The pulling back and releasing, they say, feels a bit like Angry Birds. The full interview is pretty interesting and is very much worth a read. They speak at length about some of their influences like Pan's Labyrinthe, and Infinity Blade.
The Dark Meadow is gearing up for an August release on iPhone and iPad.
