It's that time of the iPhone development cycle again. The alleged first images of the prototype for the new iPhone 6 are gracing the pages of MacRumors today, and yes, they're shot in the same blurry style normally reserved for shots of UFOs and Bigfoot. The pics came in from an anonymous source on Twitter, and according to Sonny Dickson (who sent out some of the best pre-release photos of the iPhone 5s), they originate from a source in China.
There's no way to tell if we're looking at a legitimate device or a fake, and the blurry photos certainly don't help anything. It does, at least, support some of the rumors we've been hearing. The screen's larger and bezel-free, for one, bringing the approximate width of the device's screen to 2.6 inches, compared to the 2.31 inches found on the iPhone 5s.
The photos also support a rumor that appeared this morning claiming that the new iPhones would be smaller and lighter than existing model thanks to advancements in the LED technology for the backlight display. That's apparent from the photos, which show the new iPhone with a curved aesthetic that matches what we find in the iPod touch, the iPad mini, and the iPad Air.
The new phones are also expected to have a sapphire glass display, although it's not clear if that's what we're seeing in the alleged prototype image. At the very least, the photos provide a good way to see what a thinner, lighter iPhone might look like.
