You may remember PopCap Games as the developer and publisher behind such classics as Peggle, Plants vs. Zombies, and Bejeweled. Today, the company has unveiled its new label, 4th & Battery, which will reportedly carry a new, edgier tone than PopCap has previously been known for. They also announced the first game that will debut from the label. It's called Unpleasant Horse, and you play as, drumroll please...an unpleasant horse.
The game is about a petulant horse with wings that flies around committing unspeakable acts on the other characters in the game. They're not kidding around, either. The example that they've given thus far involves stomping the happier horses into a meat grinder for bonus points. The type of game has yet to be revealed, but it almost sounds like a Pocket God-style sandbox game, or perhaps an evil version of Robot Unicorn Attack. Unpleasant horse will be released for free on iPhone and iPod touch later in April.
Unpleasant Horse will be released under PopCap's new games banner called 4th and Battery. The idea almost sounds like their version of the DC Comics brand Vertigo, which brought experimental, edgy ideas to life while keeping them from tainting the company's family-friendly image.
