It's summah summah summahtime! The Midwest and East Coast are having heat waves, and even here in normally cold-n-foggy San Francisco, the sun is shining and it's darn near 60 degrees. (Whatever, that's warm for June here. Come visit.)
But what's hotter than the temperatures? The App Store sales. So slide on your shades and lather on some SPF 15, then grab an app or two to enjoy with your favorite popsicle.

Legendary Wars HD

This one is fun for the whole family (who doesn't enjoy a tower-defense game with unicorns bleeding rainbows?), and for a limited time the iPad version, Legendary Wars HD, has dropped from $2.99 to free. We gave the iPhone version a 4.5 out of 5, and that one's 99 cents...but the iPad one is free. Freedom!
Golfscape GPS Rangefinder

What's better on a sunny summer day than a pleasant round of golf? How about using a rad iPhone app called Golfscape GPS Rangefinder to determine the distance from your ball to the green, not to mention hazards on each fairway? To celebrate their win at the 2011 Apple Design Awards, Shotzoom Software has slashed the price of this augmented-reality wonder from $19.99 to just $9.99. If your dad is the golfing, iPhone-carrying type, it could even make a great Father's Day gift!
djay

Another Apple Design Award winner, another half-priced app! djay for iPad is one of our favorites -- heck, we gave it a perfect score -- and once you get your fingers on it it's easy to see why. You can fiddle away with the virtual turntables for hours if it's too hot to go outside, or hook your iPad to your stereo and rock a poolside party. This one is usually $19.99, but now it's just $9.99, and worth every penny.
Stay cool, and have a fabulous weekend...
(Note: These are all confirmed to be on sale on Friday, June 10, when this article was published, and the developers don't always specify when the sales will end, although we do our best to find apps that are on sale at least through the weekend, if not longer. If you're an app developer who'd like to see your app featured here, please email susie at maclife dot com and I'll try to include it!)
