Private Browsing Not So Private

We're not here to judge you or anything--this is just a heads up. You know how you've been using your web browser's private browsing option to keep everyone in the dark about your fascination with Hello Kitty? Yeah... um, you might want to come up with a new privacy plan, friend.
It seems that a recently published research paper, set to be released as part of a presentation at next week's Usenix Security Symposium, explores the failures of the private browsing feature of four major browsers to hide the digital footprints of users who surf the interwebz using Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox.
Despite the findings, those of our readers who covet their privacy can take small comfort in knowing that despite the reported broswerfail, there is some good news out of all of this. While the researchers having dug up the methods by which users browsing privately can still have their site visit history opened up like a can of worms, they've also opened the door for the browser's developers to plug the holes in their product's code and correct the problem. Which means that we should see a fix sometime in the near future.
