Quickly Check Your iPhone Upgrade Eligibility Status the Easy Way

As you're eagerly anticipating the advent of the next generation of iPhones, you might be wondering if your AT&T contract is up for renewal yet, and if you're elgible for the discounted, subsidized mobile iDevice. Fear not; we've discovered how you can figure out if you're currenty eligible for one of those nifty early upgrades.
You can quickly check your upgrade eligibility using either of these options:
1. Current AT&T customer can check at http://wireless.att.com by clicking on "Check Upgrade Options" after logging in.
2. Dial *639# from your iPhone and you will receive a text message with details on your eligibility.
The changes made to the eligibility requirements will allow current iPhone users to upgrade to the new iPhone that is expected to be announced today without paying a penalty or the regular unsubsidized price for a new iPhone.

Well, #1 still isn't working. Guess everyone wants a new iphone :) Last night you couldn't even log in - either server timeout, or AT&T "we're too busy" message. This morning you could log in, but every link you clicked brought you to the log-in screen and then back to the same home screen again...
Guess AT&T can't even run a web site right. :-)

This upgrade lets you get the new iPhone. But, does it also mean you have to take the new pricing plan? Beware. Cork

Mine says everything as the picture says except the waived fee part...
"As as valued customer, we can offer you and upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee"
So does this mean I can upgrade to the iPhone 4 32G at the $299.00 price + pay the $18 upgrade fee?
I'm a little confused, but not surprised :)

In Northern California, SF Bay Area, typing 639# (the iPhone added a dash, making it 639-#) I got an error message reading: "Request Unknown, Please try again"
