After being announced nearly two weeks ago, the latest version of Readdle's PDF Expert 5 for iPad is now available for purchase from the App Store, complete with an all-new iOS 7 look and feel.
Readdle released PDF Expert 5 for iPad on Tuesday, the latest version of the company's $9.99 tablet app for annotating, filling forms and just about anything one would want to do with PDF files.
First the bad news: PDF Expert 5 is not simply an upgrade to the previous version, instead requiring all users to again pay $9.99 for the latest and greatest. That quibble aside, the previous version continues to work just fine with iOS 7 and will be supported for the next year.
So what's new? Readdle has adopted the flatter, cleaner look of iOS 7, but PDF Expert 5 doesn't require that version and can be used with iPads running iOS 6.0 or later. The app also gains a completely new file manager, a Favorites sidebar, OS X Mavericks-style color tags, Windows SMB support and the ability to download files in the background while viewing or editing.
PDF Expert 5 also features a completely new PDF viewer offering full-screen annotations, smart zoom, AirDrop support, snapping and guides and even a text-to-speech Audiobook mode that taps into iOS 7's built-in API.
Last but not least, PDF Expert 5 debuts Review Mode, a Microsoft Word-style innovation that allows users to revise the text inside PDF documents while retaining the original copy, perfect for sharing files with teams, teachers or editors.
PDF Expert 5 is now available as a $9.99 purchase for all iPads running iOS 6.0 or later.
