Everyone loves a software update, especially when it bulks up with new features that users are clamoring for. Such is the case with the popular ReaddleDocs for the iPhone and iPod touch, which just got a refresh to 2.1 -- and a host of new features to boot.
ReaddleDocs was one of the earliest iPhone apps to manage documents, view files and save attachments, which went a long way toward making the device a lot more usable, especially to business users. Among its tricks are the ability to read Microsoft Office documents, save e-mail attachments, read books on the go with its fantastic PDF reader and to share files with your friends.
Following closely on the heels of the recent (and extensive) 2.0 update, ReaddleDocs 2.1 adds a handful of new and very welcome features. Dropbox and Google Docs integration has been added to the app’s existing MobileMe iDisk, Box.net, FilesAnywhere and WebDAV storage features. Now you can upload, download and manage your Dropbox or Google Docs files on the go!
ReaddleDocs’ built-in web browser now has the ability to open bookmarks from the main page, a “return to browsing” button and a clear history feature in addition to being able to save web archives from any site, complete with images. The embedded browser also gains some parental control features for worried parents, since it now honors the same settings as Safari in your device settings.
ReaddleDocs 2.1 also brings on a handful of bug fixes, including improved stability for POP3/IMAP transfers, issues with the WebDAV client, correct display of line breaks in the text editor, some stability and interface fixes in the PDF viewer and a few overall interface improvements.
As always,
ReaddleDocs 2.1 is a free update for existing users and $4.99 for new users. The 6.2MB app is compatible with iPhone or iPod touch and requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
