The Apple Store is down and the calendar reads October 23, 2012, so that can mean only one thing: It's time for an Apple media event and new stuff! While the focus remains on the iPad mini, it appears Cupertino will also be introducing several new Lightning adapters today as well.
9to5Mac is reporting that Apple appears likely to release four new Lightning adapters later today, presumably either during or immediately after its media event kicking off in San Jose, California at 10am PST.
Included in a chart of new product listings are the "Lightning to USB Camera Adapter" and "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader" (each $29) as well as the "Lightning to VGA Adapter" and "Lightning Digital AV Adapter," both of which retail for $49.
The move shouldn't come as much of a surprise, given that users with the previous 30-pin dock connector versions of these adapters have already discovered they don't work properly with the existing Lightning adapters.
A "60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter" for $79 is also listed on the chart, which is believed to be for the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display widely expected to be announced today.
Finally, the chart wraps up with a $19 "12W USB Power Adapter" -- a curious item considering the current generation of iPad uses a 10W adapter. The report notes the higher-wattage version would allow faster charging, addressing a complaint from many owners of the third-generation "new iPad."
Apple's online store is currently down, so don't be too surprised if these products show up shortly after it comes back up later today.
