Almost a third of October has passed and there's still no "iPad mini" announcement from Apple, but that isn't stopping the media from reporting about it -- including word that the junior tablet is likely to come with Wi-Fi only.
The Guardian reported on Tuesday that the rumored "iPad mini" will only come with Wi-Fi connectivity, rather than the cellular data of the existing iPad. The report claims this information comes from "multiple sources" who are expecting an "imminent" announcement, with an actual release in November.
Otherwise, the "iPad mini" rumor is pretty much the same: 7.8-inch screen, Lightning connector and a much lower price than the current iPad.
The report does include one additional nugget related to the 9.7-inch iPad, claiming that Apple will soon offer an updated model with LTE connectivity that's compatible with the Everything Everywhere network in the U.K.
"Sources also indicated that they expect Apple to refresh the iPad line by following up the introduction of the iPhone 5, which is 4G-capable in the UK through Everything Everywhere's 1800MHz network -- and from next September with Three -- with revised versions using the same 1800MHz 4G chip and the new connector," the report reveals.
That news would not be entirely unsurprising, considering the new iPad launched earlier this year was only capable of 4G LTE in the U.S. and Canada -- a move that created some big problems for Apple in countries like Australia, which forced Cupertino to rebrand that version "Wi-Fi + cellular" instead of "Wi-Fi + 4G."
