Reports are streaming in that OS X Lion is freezing up for some users, according to 9to5mac. Although reports indicate problems at the login screen or after waking up the machine from sleep, many of the issues seem to occur around playing video clips in iLife apps. The video problems apparently exist with or without Flash Player installed.
Apple Support has a thread with over 300 replies regarding Lion freezing problems with the 2011 iMac, and another thread dealing with icy conditions around the login screen.
For many users, it appears a hard reset fixes the problem. One user experienced multiple frozen screens when using iMovie, only to have the issue resolved after repairing permissions with Disk Utility.
New OS often have some bugs to work out, and earlier reports dealt with Lion not playing nicely with MobileMe, among other things. But freezing requiring hard reboots is really frustrating; hopefully, these issues will be addressed and dethawed in a soon-to-be-released update.

Actually, I appreciate Adrian's post. I just helped a friend convert to Mac and am starting to regret it because it keeps freezing up on her. I wanted to know if it was just her new computer (lemon) or if it was happening across the board. Now post a fix or offer to (up)downgrade to Snow Leopard, please!

another negative Apple report. (granted yes Apple does have problems) but Adrian finds everything bad he can about Apple & posts it here. HEY MACLIFE its time to let Adrian go!

I have experienced this with flash players and when trying to wake from a screen saver. I found on the later that it is actually not frozen. For some reason the screen dims while entering my password. If I use the brightness buttons the screen comes back.
