Rescue.com: Apple Takes Lead Over Asus
A Rescue.com study shows that Apple has overtaken Asus as the most reliable computer. Asus, known primarily for their small, lightweight netbooks, was the leader of computer reliability back in the third quarter of 2008 and spring of this year, but Apple has now beat them out for the most reliable computer for third-quarter 2009.
Electronista reports that Apple has a reliability score of 374, while Asus now has a reliability score of 166, leaving it behind in third-place.
According to Rescue.com's CEO, David Millman, "Now that many of the netbooks by ASUS have been out for a while, there is obviously a higher need for service." Rescue.com rates computer companies based on a ratio between the number of computers shipped and the requests for help that they see, and they also go by the post-sales support by the companies.
This study could show that the normally sub-$500 netbooks don't have quite the quality that larger notebook computers have.
