Resident Evil 4 has been one of the best shooters available on iOS for quite a while, and now Capcom is looking to expand on that formula with the release of Resident Evil Mercenaries VS. The game seems similar to the previous game, but with new characters and a few notable enhancements like competitive play. We'll be able to find out if the formula holds up later today as the game makes its way to the North American App Store following its recent arrival on the New Zealand store along with plenty of other games.
The new Resident Evil game may look all kinds of awesome, but it's not the only game that's making it's way from New Zealand today. It's also being joined by the high profile releases of the legendary trivia game You Don't Know Jack, classic SEGA brawler Streets of Rage 2, Click Gamer's slash-em-up The Relic, and another very interesting game by Chillingo called A.I.R Defense which doesn't have a third period in its acronym for some reason.
Odd spelling aside, the game features a mixture of tower defense and line drawing iPhone genres. You're charged with defending your base like a typical tower defense game, but you do so by steering aircraft from your base to the enemy in a way reminiscent of the classic Flight Control.
The games should become available in North America at 11PM EST.
