What may have once been a "hobby" for Apple, could begin to turn into something more than, if a new rumor from a former executive is to be believed. Reportedly Apple would team up with a major OEM to distribute iOS-powered, Apple-branded displays.
The former executive said on condition of anonymity, that Apple has plans to "blow Netflix and all those other guys away" by bundling Apple TV + iTunes inside physical television sets. The source also says that Apple would be teaming up with a major supplier, to provide the physical televisions, which would then in turn be rebranded as Apple television sets.
"You'll go into an Apple retail store and be able to walk out with a TV. It's perfect," the source continued.
The source believed that a fall launch would be possible, however, it could launch as late as next year, in accordance with Apple's "high standards."
