Not to be outdone by the tablet in terms of the amount of rumors, chalk one up for the iPhone today. The Apple Blog caught word that Foxconn, a frequent manufacturing partner of Apple's, has received an order to build the new iPhone, which will still more than likely not be available until mid-2010.
Since past iPhone products have generally launched in the summer months, this would fall in line with Apple's usual time scale. It would allow Apple about six months to ramp up production enough to deal with the demand that usually encompasses iPhone launches. In addition, many consumers who originally obtained their 3G edition on AT&T would also be in the final months of their two-year agreement, boosting sales further.
What the next version of the iPhone will consist of is still up in the air. Of course the most talked about is that it will contain a CDMA or dual CDMA/GSM model, lending to the possibility of a Verizon iPhone.
