As Apple's main summer event, WWDC, draws ever closer, so does the quantity of rumors that seem to surround the event on an annual basis. Normally we see the next iteration of the next iPhone during this time, but lately the scuttlebutt is an unveiling of the next iOS at WWDC with the iPhone release to follow a few short months after. However, according to reported WWDC invites being handed out to select British journalists, we might catch a glimpse of the next iPhone sooner than we thought!
Apple's UK iPhone PR team has been reportedly approaching journalists from various publications to fly out to the WWDC in San Francisco next month. Of course you would assume this could only mean Apple is announcing a new iPhone, right? Although, the more likely scenario seems to be an updated version, with the iPhone 4S being a stop-gap before a possible iPhone 5 next year that could change everything yet again.
The iPhone 5 has often been reported to sport an all-aluminum back and thin profile, but the iPhone 4S should see minor cosmetic changes, including better cameras, an A5 dual-core processor and HSPA+ support, which should allow for faster mobile broadband.
Apple has also reportedly put the kibosh on the volume of iPhones that are being produced in preparation for a new and improved model.
