Hey look! An iPhone rumor!
BGR reports that according to an "incredibly solid source," Apple will apparently launch a lower cost, prepaid iPhone this fall. The handset -- apparently a revamped iPhone 3GS -- will allegedly sell for $350 without a contract. The source also claims that the handset should release by the end of the summer.
The global prepaid market is huge -- so big in fact, that the iPhone has been conspicuously absent. In fact, some reports suggest that avoiding the prepaid market is akin to avoiding 70 percent of the world. Since Cupertino is not "ceding any market," clearly a prepaid iPhone could actually appear. But up until this point, no one considered the possibility that the first new prepaid iPhone could be our old 3GS friend.
