Rumor: Next iPad Could Have Intel Inside

Get ready, because the rumor mill is running full speed ahead once again. Currently, there is speculation over what role Intel might play in the next iteration of the iPad. In the past, there have been whispers that the chip manufacturer's wares might find a home nestled in the heart of Cupertino's smartphones and tablets. So far, that hasn't panned out. This time around however, there may well be some substance to the scuttlebutt.
According to CNET, Intel may be set to aquire German chip manufacturer Infineon Technologies. For those keeping tabs on a few of the more reputable tear down sites, such as UMB Techinsights and iFixit, you'll recall that both the iPad and iPhone 4 both boast an Infineon A GSM/W-CDMA transceiver and a baseband processor: chips responsible for such important duties as 3G connectivity and facilitating digital camera usage.
Even if Intel does indeed aquire Infineon, there's no guarantee that their silicon will show up in the next iPad however. Apple does have it's own chip manufacturing arm, after all, not to mention other manufacturer, such as Texas Instruments who they could turn to for the guts of their next big win.
