The Taiwan Economic News is reporting that Apple has locked in deals with two suppliers to build 8-megapixel camera lenses for the next iPhone. Apparently both Largan Precision and Genius Electronic Optical will be manufacturing the lenses for "Apple's newest iPhone 5."
According to the report, both companies were previously responsible for for producing the 5-megapixel lenses for the iPhone 4. Monster, record-breaking sales of the iPhone then vaulted both lens manufacturing companies to a combined 27.5 percent market share last year.
Despite wild fluctuations in the rumors regarding every specific of Apple's yet-to-be-announced iPhone 5, there has been consistent chatter regarding the enhanced camera possibility, which gives this latest rumor a (slightly) higher degree of believability.
