Apple has cancelled pending orders for a new iPad that was to be released this fall because of issues with the Retina display, reports DigiTimes.
Rumors started spreading earlier this summer that a new "iPad HD" would be released this fall, possibly with a super-sharp Retina display.
According to the report, Apple planned to produce a new version of this iPad, with Retina display, during the second half of this year; allegedly almost 2 million units were slated for the the third quarter and up to 6 million units were scheduled for the the fourth quarter. Those rumored orders, however, are now rumored to be cancelled.
The alleged launch of the next iPad was apparently cancelled due to yield rate issues in the production of the new Retina display, according to the report, and Apple will most likely go back to their regular annual release cycle, delivering the next iPad in spring. That is, assuming Cupertino ever went off schedule in the first place.
