If you're a fan of Japanese Emoji, but you just haven't gotten around to adding it to your iPhone or iPod touch. You better hurry.
Any application thats sole feature was to unlock Emoji, has been pulled from the iTunes App Store. Developers with applications with Emoji as an additional feature have been asked by Apple to submit new Emoji-less versions of their app ASAP.
Apple may be pulling the plug on Emoji because messages sent containing Emoji only work on Emoji enabled phones. So while you can send Emoji to all your iPhone/iPod touch owning friends, your G1 owning friends end up never getting the message.
There are two applications the Mac|Life staff have downloaded from the store that enable Emoji on our iPhones and are still available. The first is Spell Number - Emoji for FREE, which is of course, free. The second is Typing Genius - Get Emoji, which is $.99 and in addition to unlocking Emoji, will unlock your iPhone typing skills.
