Just because there are rumors swirling about a Slingbox Android client being on tap for a summer release, doesn't mean that Sling Media's forgotten about Apple's new darling.
Digital Media Blog, Zatz Not Funny has been given some scuttlebutt that prospective owners of Apple's soon to be released tablet will find of great interest: That's right true believers, they're tinkering with a version of SlingPlayer for the iPad.
During a discussion on streaming technology with one of his Slingbox sources, Dave Zatz was told "When it makes a noticeable difference in quality, we will definitely provide higher resolution streaming. The iPad is a good example of a device where we are hard at work on this, but unfortunately it won’t be there at the April launch."
I believe a w00t is in order.
When coupled with the iPad's already extensive media capabilities, a high-resolution SlingPlayer application will make the tablet a winning go-to media extension device, whether you're at home or on the go. Rest assured, we'll be watching this one closely.
