If there's one thing that's certain in life, it's that there's usually never anything certain. However, one thing that's usually about close to being certain, is once Apple starts to run supplies short, something new is on the way. If supplies of Snow Leopard availability in New Zealand and Australia are any indication, then we could see Lion soon.
9 to 5 Mac is reporting receiving tips from those in the South Pacific that Snow Leopard boxes are beginning to run short, and channel inventory is starting to dry up. Apple resellers haven't been able to get ahold of Snow Leopard boxes.
As indicated by the image above, shipping times have increased to at about a week. While delays such as these are usually temporary, it can more often than not be an indicator that the supply channel winds are changing and that the boxes are starting to cease to be made.
If it does hold true of Apple releasing an upgraded product, after supplies of the prior edition start to dry up, as was the case with the latest MacBook Pros and iMacs, then surely we could see Lion at WWDC if not sooner. For the most part, Lion Preview 3 has been basically stable, and employees may even start to demonstrate the new OS as part of the Apple Store 2.0 initiative.
