By this time next week, we’ll already know what Apple has up its sleeve for the WWDC 2012 keynote -- but in the meantime, all we have to go on are leaks such as the one pictured here, which is reportedly the spec label from a new 13-inch MacBook Pro.
The Verge is reporting that specs have been leaked from what’s assumed to be a spec label on the box of a forthcoming 13-inch MacBook Pro. The good news is that Intel’s Ivy Bridge processor and USB 3.0 ports are present and accounted for, but the bad news is there doesn’t seem to be a Retina Display in sight.
According to the Chinese website Weiphone which first posted the spec sheet, the next 13-inch MacBook Pro will come with “1280x800 resolution and 2.5GHz dual-core Intel i5. Intel's HD Graphics 4000 is also reportedly on board, alongside Thunderbolt and two USB 3.0 ports -- indicating this is an Ivy Bridge refresh of Apple's MacBook Pro line.”
The listed size specs are identical to the existing 13-inch MacBook Pro, although the notebook actually weighs a bit more (2.06kg versus the previous 2.04kg) -- so those rumors of some kind of crazy new MacBook Air-style design are now looking suspicious indeed, especially when this spec label clearly lists an “8x slot-loading SuperDrive” as well.
Then again, most of the recent chatter about a Retina Display MacBook Pro has been focused on the more popular 15-inch model, so those holding out hope for that will just have to patiently wait it out a bit longer to see if their dreams come true.
The Verge claims to have scanned the product code included on the spec sheet, which does match the text product code 826-9882-A printed above it -- so it’s either a pretty elaborate forgery or the real McCoy, maybe…
